Experience and Qualifications:
Mr. Jones is a school facilities planner and a communications designer with expertise in several areas of technology. Since joining ESP, he has been responsible for facilities and information technology (IT) planning and communications infrastructure design for numerous school renovation or new construction projects. His responsibilities included working with the client and architect on classroom layouts, detailed design of telecommunications rooms, infrastructure design, and the design of the classroom technology systems. In addition, Mr. Jones is responsible for telephone systems design including Centrex, PBX and VoIP solutions on multiple projects as well as design and specification for intercom and other intra-building communications systems.
An additional area of responsibility is overseeing physical security systems designs for ESP. These systems include Intrusion Detection, Electronic Access Control and Video Surveillance systems and are part of ESP’s full scope of technology design and planning services.
Mr. Jones manages the CAD services for ESP and coordinates these services with architects and engineers to supply them with the required drawings in the proper formats.
The Technology High School at McKinley, District of Columbia Public Schools: Mr. Jones has assisted Dr. Richardson in providing technology planning, design services technology planning and design services for the new McKinley High School. McKinley High School has a long history of providing district wide pre-engineering and technology education since it opened at the present site in 1928. The new technology school at McKinley will be a district wide magnet school drawing students into three technology pathways; Information Technology Services, Broadcast Communications, and Bio-Science. The school communications network design incorporates a combination traditional MDF/IDF and collapsed backbone design with extensive use of fiber optic cable to learning areas. Mr. Jones provided technology design for innovative technology and science labs, a broadcast studio, and specialized learning areas. He provided construction administrative services and will monitor future technology implementation.
Phillipsburg High School, Phillipsburg, NJ: Mr. Jones was assigned responsibility for this project which included a full scope of technology design services. The new, approximately 300,000 sq. ft. facility includes state of the art data infrastructure as well as a VoIP phone solution that integrates with other building communications systems. The physical security system will utilize the existing district fiber WAN to provide real-time monitoring of the intrusion detection, electronic access control and CCTV systems both onsite and remotely to provide a safe and secure environment in which students can focus on learning. Classroom spaces have both wired and wireless connectivity and a flexible audio/video presentation station for the instructor which consists of an infrastructure of multiple cable and connector types to maximize flexibility.
